  1. What if I do not have the proper equipment to take my soil sample?
    • We have one soil probe and one Collect-N-Go sample collection kit at our office for producers and homeowners to use for taking soil samples. Please call or come by our office for details on signing out the equipment.
  2. How do I submit a soil sample?
    • You may come by our office anytime Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm to pick up sample boxes and submission sheets. If you have never submitted a soil sample before, our staff will be glad to help you complete your submission form and properly package your sample.
  3. Where do I send samples to?
    • Send samples to the following address: Soil, Plant, & Pest Center 5201 Marchant Dr. Nashville, TN 37211. This address is also listed in the top right hand corner of submission sheets.
  4. How much does it cost to submit a soil sample?
    • The cost of sampling varies depending on which tests you select to have the lab process. All costs are listed on the submission sheets.
  5. How do I pay to get my samples processed?
    • Checks can be made payable to the University of Tennessee and included with your submission sheet. Online payment is also available on the Soil, Plant, and Pest Center website.
  6. How will I receive my sample analysis results?
    • Results are mailed and emailed (if email is provided on submission sheet) to the submitter of the sample.
  7. How long does it take to receive results back from the lab?
    • Generally, results are mailed and emailed 3-5 business after submission, but it could take up to 2 weeks to receive results. If you do not have results after 2 weeks have passed, please contact our office for assistance.
  8. What if I need help interpreting my sample analysis results?
    • Stop by our office anytime Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm and our agriculture agent will be glad to assist you.
